We are excited about your desire to become a member of Comox Pentecostal Church. By doing so, you are declaring your intent to a greater sense of belonging and ownership in Comox Pentecostal Church. Please take some time in filling out this form, allowing us to get to know you better, and submit it as soon as you are finished. All membership applications must be brought to the Leadership Team for approval. You will be invited to meet with two Leadership Team members afterwards.

Membership is available to those who are over the age of 18.

CONSTITUTION AND COVENANT

Before signing and submitting this application, please read below portions from our Local Church Constitution and Covenant regarding membership.

Article VI. Membership
Section 1. Persons desiring to become members of this church shall give credible profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. They shall be baptized by immersion, indicate a desire to live in harmony with this body of believers, shall accept the doctrinal standards as set forth in the Statement of Fundamental and Essential Truths in this constitution, and shall be regular financial supporters of this church, the tithe being the minimum.

They shall give evidence of compliance with the biblical standard of Christian practice and manifest spiritual growth by giving evidence of the fruit of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22,23 NIV).

They shall refrain from, "acts of sinful nature: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension's, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like" (Galatians 5:19-21 NIV). Sexual immorality shall be interpreted to mean common-law marital relationships, pre-marital and extra-marital sexual relationships (I Corinthians 6:15-18, 7:1-2; I Thessalonians 4:3-8; Hebrews 13:4), and all forms of homosexual and lesbian activity, along with other practices deemed inexcusable for Christian conduct, and which place a person under God's judgment (Romans 1:26-2:11).

Section 2. Membership shall consist of the following:

Regular members:
Persons 18 years of age and over, who fulfill the requirements of Article VI, Section 1, shall be known as regular members.

Inactive members:
Members who have absented themselves for a three month or longer period of time from the life, activity, support and/or attendance of the Assembly without giving due notice to the pastoral staff of such intent, shall be placed on the “Inactive” list by the Church Board. They shall have forfeited all rights and privileges until a “Request for Re-instatement” has been approved by the Church Board.

Waiver of Claim - In accepting membership with Comox Pentecostal Church, each member, by signing the membership form shall be deemed to have agreed that in the event of withdrawal of his/her membership, on suspension of the member for reasons ascertained by the Board, no member whether suspended, dismissed or disciplined shall take legal action against the Pastor, the Board of Deacons, the church or any member taking part in the suspension proceedings.

Acceptance of membership in this local church shall be evidence of a waiver by the member of all right of action, causes of action and all claims and demands against this local church, or any officer of the church, or against any member or its Pastor by virtue of suspension proceedings and withdrawal of membership in this local church.

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and having been baptized in water, and being in agreement with Comox Pentecostal Church’s purpose, beliefs, values, strategy, and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Comox Pentecostal Church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the ministry of Comox Pentecostal Church.
